Our Practice nurses help run health promotion clinics under the direction of the doctors and at times will make visits to patients, not to diagnose, but to make an assessment and report back to the doctor.

The Treatment Room Staff provide a comprehensive service to the mobile community based patients (e.g. dealing with wound management, blood and urine tests, injections, ear syringing, suture removal, advice on minor ailments, health promotion and health education).

The treatment room is open between 08:45 and 17:00, (closed 13.00 and 14.00 for lunch).

The nurses have their own appointment system for patients needing regular injections or dressings.

Practice Manager

Our Practice manager is responsible for the organisation and administration of the practice. She negotiates between the different groups involved in the practice - the partners, the staff, the patients and the NHS. She is responsible for finance, personnel, office management and relations with the public.

Our reception Staff are your first point of contact with us. They will try to meet all your requirements, taking essential details of your problem sympathetically and in complete confidence. Any advice that they give is strictly to guidelines laid down by the Practice. The receptionists/ secretaries are here to help you and to ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the practice

The role of the community midwife is to provide care throughout pregnancy and to care for the mother and baby for the first 14 days, after which care is transferred to the health visitor.

Together with the doctors, in joint ante-natal clinics which are held at the surgery, the midwife provides ante-natal care for patients of the Practice.

Also, together with the health visitor, the midwife arranges and carries out parentcraft classes to prepare parents for childbirth and childcare.

The community nursing team provides expert nursing care in the home, assessment of health needs, teaches nursing care and advises and supports individual patients and their families, rehabilitating the patient as far as possible, including continuing care after discharge from hospital. Their range of duties vary according to the needs of the patients within the Practice and they may be contacted through the doctor, directly through reception or through the Community Nursing Office at South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen.

Health visitors are nurses with qualifications in nursing and midwifery who have special training to give advice on matters relating to family and health.

Our health visitors visit all families with pre-school children. They work with the doctors in the running of the practice's baby clinics, visiting the non-attenders, carrying out screening and developmental tests and promoting and participating in the Immunisation Programme.

We provide CBT clinics for our patients that can help the way they manage their problems by changing the way they think and behave.

We have two counsellors that run these clinics on a weekly basis.

Our Practice Paramedic will assess and triage patients, provide treatment as appropriate, advise patients on general healthcare and promote self care management.
